EWB-KC will be
hosting our 3rd Annual Sandtastic Sand Volleyball Tournament Fundraiser on
Saturday, June 26th at 4:00 pm. Cost is only $25/person, which includes $5 in
free food / drink tickets. All proceeds will be allocated towards EWB-KCs
international projects in Dominican Republic, Guatemala, & Haiti.
Please invite your coworkers and your friends to form a co-ed team. Each team
will play a minimum of 5 games followed by a single elimination tournament to
see who will take home the trophy until next year.
Attached is the registration for and more general info on the fundraiser. This

Project Change Kansas City is organizing a work day for Nutter Park (3700 Woodland Kansas City, MO) in the Ivanhoe Neighborhood. The work day would begin on May 15th around 9:00 - 10:00 am and primarily consist of various landscaping projects and assembly of play equipment. The work day ends at 4:00 pm with a celebratory block party afterward (4:30 - 6:30 pm)! The City of Overland Park Stream Clean
Saturday,

The
annual City of Overland Park Stream
Clean is this Saturday, April 10th.
EWB-KC is putting together a group of volunteers to pick up trash near a stream
in a local park. If you would like to help out, contact David Baugher (

) or show up at Quivira Park located at the southeast corner of 119th St. &
Quivira Rd. The group will plan to meet at the park at 9:00 AM and clean
until everyone gets tired. Please wear old clothes and bring some
water. The city will provide us with bags and gloves but bring your own
if you would prefer.
This
year there is a contest among the volunteer groups to see who can collect the most
interesting piece of trash (a picture must be taken and a brief description
written) so bring a camera! Also, for volunteers 14 and under there is an
essay contest to write about the Stream Clean event experience. The
prizes for these contests are still to be determined.

San Mateo, Belize Committee
Meeting - 5:30 pm, Monday, February 22 at the Burns &
McDonnell
During
the January EWB-KC general meeting, a presentation was given by a young Kansas City elementary student about the community of San Mateo in the Central American country of Belize.
The community is in need of some engineering help so EWB-KC is forming a
committee to help get this project recognized by EWB-USA in hopes that an EWB
chapter, perhaps Kansas City's,
will begin designing sustainable solutions for the community. The meeting
will be Monday, February 22 at 9400

Call
for Help Meeting - 5:30 pm, Tuesday, February 23 at the
Black & Veatch (North Bld.)
EWB-KC's
Guatemala project team is
assisting Heart To Heart International in the design of a clinic in Patanatic, Guatemala.
All persons with structural, electrical, mechanical, construction backgrounds,
or persons just looking to help are needed. The project team will be
meeting Tuesday night, February 23, at 8330 Ward Parkway (3rd Floor - Building
North of the Black & Veatch Offices) at 5:30 pm to discuss
the clinic design and to designate design tasks. If interested, please feel
