We will be meeting at Habitat ReStore at 303 W. 79th St., Kansas City, MO 64114 (right off Wornall) for a tour starting at 5:30. We'll be going to Waldo Pizza afterwards (EWB will provide a pizza). We will be talking about some of the presentations and discussions we had at this conference this past weekend. Also, we will discuss options for opening up a new program for EWB-KC. This means we will be starting new projects in a new location. If you are wanting to jump in on a project, now would be the time. Make sure to come to this meeting!
Now is the time to be a part of EWB-KC! We attended the Midwest Regional Conference this weekend in Lawrence and were honored to receive the Premier Chapter award of the professional chapters in the region.
Congrats to each and every one of you and thank you for all your hard work and participation to make this chapter great! Keep up the good work.
KC PROFESSIONAL SERVICE TRIP 2013
KILOMETER 6 LA ROMANA DOMINICAN REPUBLIC
The KC Professional Chapter of Engineers without Borders traveled to Kilometer 6 in La Romana, Dominican Republic, this past June and continued working on the site utilities that were started by the UMKC Chapter in 2010. The utilities serve a school and church founded by the Jean Luc Phanord Foundation who are currently providing K-6 education to about 200 students and a church congregation of 600. The focus of the Foundation is to serve the poorest students in this large Haitian refugee community who do not have the resources or money to purchase uniforms and books that are required to attend public schools.
